Concept Art: The Kraken Base
Two architecture concepts designed to fit the brief 'a military base disguised an an aquarium'.
The Kraken Base was designed to feel like an old lovecraftian aquarium first and foremost. At a glance, the architecture should resemble a squid, with large rounded aquarium tanks displaying marine life. The military base is for the most part kept hidden within or overshadowed by the ornate aquarium disguise. The base is worn and well established, but keeps its haphazard feel with it’s shoddy repairs, battle damage, and contrasting modern instalments.
The design of the Kraken Base is meant to be fun and quirky. In this concept i pushed the military aspect a bit further so it would be more obvious at a glance, but still hidden within or overshadowed by the lovecraftian aquarium disguise.
A flat grey linework version to aid in the 3D modeling of the concept. The design can be easily simplified or added to without loosing the narrative or character of the building if necessary.
The first concept for the Kraken base. The tall sloped roofs leant themselves well to the concept, as they described the natural shape of a squid well, and paired nicely with the softer circular shapes of the old submarine style aquarium windows.
A flat grey linework version to aid in the 3D modelling of the concept. The military base camp itself can be expanded upon easily with building outward from the Kraken at the center.
