Pet Portrait: Poppy

A memorial piece I painted of Poppy, a beautiful dapple grey Warmblood x Thoroughbred mare dearly loved by Jamie. As this piece was commissioned as a surprise, to create the illustration I used a variety of screenshots of Poppy as unfortunately there was no opportunity to have nice portrait photographs taken before her passing. I am very happy to have been able to get her complex pattern as close to life as possible from the limited references available. The piece was inspired strongly by the owner's favourite photo of her and Poppy together, with the final illustration depicting Poppy looking peaceful on a calm beach, under the same sky they both shared.
